One Thing to Say

November 4th, 2008 · life & miscellany · 6 Comments

I’ve only got one thing to say today.

(If you’re American) Get your butt out there and vote!

If you voted, thank you.

If you didn’t bother to register or vote, don’t come complaining to me if your guy doesn’t win. If I happen to want the same person to win, I reserve the right to smack you for not making a difference (ok, not really).

Even though we’ll cancel out most of each other’s votes, Micah and I are still dragging ourselves out to stand in the rain at our polling place tomorrow morning. We should be suiting up to head over just as this goes live.

Good reminder. I have a friend who never votes because she doesn’t want to register in case she gets jury duty. What?!?

I’m glad I’m not the only one who’s husband sometimes cancels out my votes :) We canceled out each other’s presidential vote today, but he didn’t vote for anything else and I did. So, he only canceled out one of my votes :)

I sort of disagree that it’s not acceptable. I mean, it ticks me off that some people don’t vote (for any reason) and I’d be very annoyed if someone who didn’t vote then complained about the outcome to me.

On the other hand, this country is supposed to be about freedom and people should be able to choose not to vote if they want. I think that it’s rather irresponsible, but still acceptable.

Ha ha. Hubby and I cancel out each other’s votes a lot, too. We vote anyway - we both think it’s important to participate.
