Getting a Feel for Readers

August 12th, 2008 · blogging tips & blog updates, personal finance & money management · 3 Comments

Hullo, dear readers. Today is all about you. I have all kinds of stats on how many people visit my site, where they come from, and what they look at. I know how many people are subscribed. But that only gives me part of the picture.

For example, I’m not sure how many people who subscribe actually come to the site. I’m not entirely sure what anybody wants out of it. Comments give me somewhat of an idea, but I may have 1 commenter for a hundred visitors. Are they representative of the majority?

So today I’m posting a short survey which I hope will give me a better idea of people’s interests. If you’re reading this in a feed reader, I encourage you to take the survey and add your voice. This won’t wholly sway the content, but if I see that a large number of people are very interested in something, I’ll do my best to write about it more often.

I’ve come up with 5 topics I write about and 5 levels of interest. So you could say that you were “a little bit interested” in investing, for example.

Since it’s a survey, I created it on the Poll Daddy Site. This is the link and it’s only a single-page deal. I didn’t see a way to put it on my site itself.

Thanks so much! Regular post-vacation programming begins tomorrow.

Btw, don’t forget to enter the giveaway!

The poll doesn’t have a place for my opinion. I like any of those topics when they get an treatment unique to this site.

Thanks, Michael. There is a lot of repetition in blogging and I would like to avoid it, but I’m sure I don’t always succeed.

Couldn’t find a place for user submissions putting that together, so thanks too for using the comments.
