Mrs. Micah: Finance for a Freelance Life

Poll: How did you find Mrs. Micah?

January 22nd, 2008 · 22 Comments

So I’m curious, how did you find MrsMicah.com? Was it just one factor or a combination? (I’ve left it so that you can pick multiple answers.)

And if you feel like adding it in the comments, why did you subscribe? Or why haven’t you subscribed? ;)

I found your blog through comments on another site. I believe it was ProBlogger, but I’m not positive.

I don’t think I clicked on your name at another blog, but you get mentioned quite a bit by other bloggers (so I came to investigate). Deservedly so!

I subscribed once I found out that you make quilts too. I have a “part time” interest in financial stuff, and a very full time interest in quilting.

I have not subscribed. I like to visit the site and skim the articles and comments. Sometimes the comments add more to the post.

    Found you via openwallet.com

I subscribed because I liked your writing style, and I liked that you put a lot of personal details into your posts. (i.e., not just a list of tips for saving money, but actual examples from your life where you had saved money.) Also, I like to read PF blogs written by writers who are about my age, because I feel like we have some similar PF issues.

I finally subscribed yesterday because there are too many good blogs to read. RSS makes it manageable.

I like that you are the same age, in DC also, and a page (like I was once upon a time).

I ought to start my own blog at some point.

If you do, Kiran, be sure to let me know.

We sometimes have DC PF bloggers meet ups too.

I think I found you from a comment or link from someone else’s site. I subscribed because I read some of your posts and liked your thoughtful content.

Pssh, I found you from YOUR MOM!

    I did, too.

    I think it was lifehacker.com

I haven’t subscribed because I don’t subscribe to blogs at all. If I subscribed I would have to “catch up” with all the posts, and it would suck up my time. Instead I look at blogs when I’ve got some time to kill. I think I come to yours about twice a week maybe? Often through a link or comment on another blog.

I don’t subscribe to blogs (would take away from my ability to waste time). But I like your posts, and you live in the same town as me!

Mrs M - I’m sorry but I don’t remember how i find you. Before I got a reader in December I made sure I checked out yours site often; and after that I subscribed.

The reasons why i subscribed are as follows: You’re smart, but you don’t come across as trying to be too superior.

You’re honest - who else would have dared start off the - “who really showers every day topic” and I like you. You’re authentic and humane and I think you’re capable of achieving great things.

I discovered your blog last week on the The Simple Dollar. I was intrigued by Trent’s comment on your writing:

An aside: this article is written by Mrs. Micah, one of the most frequent commenters here, and she’s really coming along as a writer.

I am impressed with both your style and content.

Thanks Savvy Working Girl. I was rather excited to see that aside on his blog. I get positive feedback from my friends, but having it from someone with whom I don’t have any other relationship is valuable as well.

I found you because you comment on approximately every single personal finance blog in the universe.

I subscribe because you’re a good writer. And I’ve met you so, it’d be rude not to.
