So Mr. Micah and I were merrily chatting during muted commercials when something caught our eye. It was a commercial for baking soda– “then” a black-and-white commercial where a grandmother is showing it to her granddaughter. They’re in flannel nightgowns and everything.
I’m watching out of the corner of my eye, knowing it was going to switch to “now” or whatever. Switch to color and all that.
Suddenly, we see a house going up in flames. Now we’re in an add for safe-burning fire logs. It was actually a pretty seamless switch.
We decided that if you don’t buy baking soda, your house will catch on fire. Just letting you know. ![]()

Sounds like the logical conclusion to me…and the one my husband I would have come up with. Sometimes you wonder who dreams up these commercials and what they’re thinking (or not) when they do…

They’re totally getting desperate to sell baking soda aren’t they?

Maybe they’re trying to counter the negative effects of this: http://www.frugallawstudent.com/2007/06/11/frugal-experiment-brushing-teeth-with-baking-soda/
(I’ve tried it with the same result…ick!)
