Mrs. Micah plays the stock market!!! And invites you along for the ride!

Ok, not really. Just sort of.

A few days ago, I remembered a site we used for my personal finance class this spring. I don’t know if we were supposed to learn the nuances of the stock market or the scariness of day trading. We all set up accounts within a “class” on StocksQuest.com.

I looked at it today and most stocks I picked fell. But that’s ok, since it was fake money.

And I was thinking–for those of us who want to keep it safe with index funds in real life, wouldn’t it be kinda fun to play the stock market for free?

So I set up my own group (it had to go under “Class” since they don’t have one for plain groups).

I’d love it if anyone would like to join me in playing. We’d be able to see each other’s StocksQuest profiles and such. I should warn that the site can be slow. The numbers are also delayed a little bit, per the government’s rules. But just 20 minutes or so.

If you’re interested, go to http://www.stocksquest.com. After signing up for an account, click Join a Class. The class (group) name is “PFDayTraders” and the group password is “daytraders” (these are case sensitive).

Then on your My Stocks page, be sure to click on PFBloggers and not StocksQuest so that you’re in the right account. It should show that you have $500,000 to spend. There’s a few things like you can short sell, buy on the margin up to 50% of your portfolio, can’t buy stocks under $1 (penny stocks). Also, it costs $10 per trade, I think. Maybe I made it less.

I found this fun last spring and I hope to find it even more so now. After all, no consequences. So please join me, this could be fun!

Edit: To see others in the group or about the group itself (once you’ve joined) click the rankings button.

    Yay, Google stock. :-)

I’m also buying some of the guilty stocks that I mention in my 10/4 article about selling one’s soul. Because it’s not soul selling to pretend.
