Except for the long part where I worried (and I still do worry) about my little brother-in-law.
Work was good. Afterwards, Mr. Micah and I had dinner and went out to Borders on one of our coffee dates. Only this time, I got to buy the book! I ended up going with 2 books (looks sheepish), total of $25, The Interior Castle by Saint Teresa of Avila and Dark Night of the Soul by Saint John of the Cross. I’ve been meaning to read these books for a while. And I think they seem worthwhile enough to actually buy them. I’m very aexcited about both! I looked at so many, it was deliciously fun to browse.
I still have $25 of birthday money left. My plan is to buy another big saucepan/pot for making big batches of yummy food! And if I have something left over, it’ll go towards the craft budget.
To make my birthday even happier, I browsed my bookshelves here for things I haven’t yet read, or haven’t read all the way but want to finish, or want to reread. Then I set aside all the ones that look interesting. It was like book shopping all over again, only with an unlimited budget (since I already own them!). That was fun.

Happy Birthday you! I’m calling you tonight.
We are worried about little brother in law too. I thought he was going to film school, not boot camp. Nathan seems to think he should try to be brave and stick it out a little longer but I think he should come home and go to UD or Cecil until he figures out what he wants to do. Hmmmm.
Love,
Mrs. N

Good for you!!! From Annette. I hope you find crafts you enjoy. I am learning some more too. It is fun to make sweaters and all kinds of goodies. Joann Fabrics has a great deal of crafts I was told

Dear Mrs. Micah,
Neat birthday story! You and books are like icecream and cake since you love books and work at a library. I love books too and was a library assistant in the 12th grade in 1965. My sister works at a middle school library in Gainesville, Florida. I am a card-carrying member of the Rising Sun, MD library. They had a book sale in 2007 and I bought a stack. I will be reading them for several years. I like your idea of looking on your home bookshelf–free books! Yay!!!
